HELLO! JUSTIN HERE

I’m sure you’re curious, who’s this guy and what is this guy wearing a red napkin doing, and why should I trust this guy with my business marketing?

My journey in entrepreneurship started quite early, I vividly remember how I used to sell colourful notepads my mom bought for me to my classmates when I’m 7 years old. I made over RM1000 before teachers realised that I’m making a profit out of my classmate’s lunch money.

I’ve always been the most curious guy in the room, asking everything I didn’t know and finding new ways of doing old fashion things.

After graduating from high school, I went to study at TARC, Kuala Lumpur. This is the first time of me moving away from my parents. But quickly I realise college became too easy and there was just too much free time for me at that point. That’s when my entrepreneurial bug hit me again, I started my college side hustle where I launched the country’s first protein shake vending machine making RM6000 /month at peak. From there, I’ve never stopped having side hustles and building businesses.

As the business grows, I feel the limitation of the vending machine business and I decided to sell the entire business to a gym partner who sees the potential in the business for a fairly good price. I then decided to take a break to continue my studies in Birmingham, UK. That’s when I’ve seen how the e-commerce and internet are so different from what I’ve experienced here in Malaysia, and I started selling on Amazon — making over $120k in sales during my year there.

After graduation, I came back to Malaysia and worked in a bank and private equity firm. After spending a year, where I worked my way up and got offered to become a manager. However, I realised it was not something I want in life.

From there, I’ve seen the tech scene in Malaysia starting to take off and college students building billion-dollar companies from their dorms, so I decided to take a leap of faith with my cofounder who I met during my employment.

For a span of 4 years, I started 2 tech companies, which both ended miserably due to a bad cofounder relationship and my own failure to pivot quickly enough during COVID. I then joined a company in Malaysia & Silicon Valley helping local mom-and-pop businesses sell their handmade food online as a growth manager. As a side business, I’ve also helped multiple businesses ranging from interior designers, smart homes & real estate agencies with digital marketing.

As the pandemic came to an end, the companies are having massive layoffs and I got hit. That’s why I’ve decided that working for others is not even as secure as it seems. However, I’m glad of the experience and skills I’m groomed in these 2 companies and my side business, I’m able to realise my passion for helping SMEs grow online. Now I’m having customers from Malaysia, Bangkok, Singapore, and even in UK and USA!

Though my story is not the story of Zuck, it’s still a pretty fulfilling journey I must say!
